Mission and Protocols

Our Mission

The Hawaiian Island Paranormal Research Society is a professional organization.  It is our mission to help the people of Hawaii, or anyone who may contact us, with any questions that they may have regarding entities, haunting activity, paranormal activity in general, and/or any experiences that they have had or are having regarding such phenomena.  Our services are free of charge and shall be conducted professionally with ALOHA.

The main focus of our investigations, if warranted, is to search for logical explanations that can possibly explain activity and experiences.  Though we take note of personal accounts and descriptions, we go into an investigation with a clean slate forming our conclusions based off of the data and experiences that we've collected ourselves.  Though we are not scientist, we conduct our investigations and activities in a scientific manner.

If an investigation is warranted, we will bring instruments and equipment into your home or business, and use them in an effort to capture evidence of paranormal activity.  Please know that the equipment includes various audio and visual recording devices.  HIPRS/HIGH fully respects the need or desire for confidentiality and will not share or publish any information such as names, addresses, or personal accounts without the permission of our clients.  In the spirit of research, we do publish information and evidence via our website, but will do so using generic names and descriptions to provide anonymity.  For the most sensitive cases, all information and evidence shall be handled and stored by the by the Lead Investigators ONLY.

For those who are looking for more than a scientific answer, we are the only team capable of providing alternative means to gather more subjective evidence that may provide a more complete story.  Please keep in mind that though this type of information may help to resolve the inquiries for certain clients, it will be completely subjective in nature and though they may not be able to be proven objectively, we will put in our best effort to collaborate the information with our objective evidence.

We are not amateurs and we are not thrill-seekers.  Together, we have many years of experience and information, and have been fortunate to be mentored by some of the best researchers and investigators in the field.  Due to our past experiences, we know that certain experiences can be fearful, uncomfortable, and traumatic.  Please know that we understand and we are here for you.  If we take on a case, we will dedicate our time and efforts and commit to doing our best to help our clients find the answers that they are searching for.

Aloha

Evidence Collection Tips

Pictures

Keep your camera and lenses clean.

Flash is only good for 9 - 12 feet from camera.

Always take a series of two pictures of the area being photographed. This will help to confirm anomalies. If you have an apparent anomaly on one picture, compare it with the second photo. If it appears in both pictures, it's probably something explainable.

Do not take pictures in adverse weather such as rain, mist, fog, or dusty conditions as it may cause the illusion of "orbs".

Do not take pictures while walking on a dusty road. Remove or wear the camera strap to deter it from getting caught in a picture causing "vortexes."

Try your best to avoid shooting in an area with many reflective surfaces. If you need to, make note of each reflective item to compare with the pictures.

Long hair must be tied back so no loose strands get caught in a picture.

EVP Recording

Begin recording by stating time and date.

State the location that you are conducting your session in. I.E. "EVP session in office area.

State who is present during the EVP session.

Announce that you are beginning an EVP session to other team members so they can avoid making excessive noise in the area.

When first entering an area, state the base temperature and EMF.

Make note of noises that could interfere with the EMF recordings such as an A/C unit, animals, investigators in nearby areas, etc.

Speak loudly and clearly.

Try to avoid whispering i.e. thinking out loud to yourself.

State when you are moving an EVP recorder to another location.

Announce when you come into or leave an area with a stationary EVP recorder.

Speak calmly and positively.

When asking a question, allow about 15 seconds for a reply before asking your next questions.

Use the recorder to make any notations throughout the night.

Hawaiian Island Ghost Hunters has the utmost respect for our land and ancestors.

Orbs, vortexes, time shifts, etc shall be discredited as evidence.
This is a protocol adapted by our team.

No smoking.
Smoke can travel far and may blow into the direction of an investigator taking pictures causing false positives that take up valuable time to review and debunk.

No alcohol before, during, or after the investigation if remaining on site.

All findings are based on Objective evidence.
Our investigations are conducted in a scientific manner. All evidence is based on readings, recordings, and pictures collected with our equipment. Basically, we only present what the client will be able to physically analyze themselves. Stories cannot be analyzed. Personal experiences will be presented as evidence only if two or more investigators experience the same phenomena.

Cellular Phones are to be left at the base station or in the vehicles.
Cell phones give off EMF and could cause false readings during EMF sweeps. All focus should be on the investigation so no activity is missed.
